| Co-editors Jason J. Marchi (Founder, New Century Writer Awards) and Jackson T. Ellis (Editor & Publisher of Verbicide Magazine), are currently accepting submissions for three thematic short story and poetry combination anthologies... |
|
AUTOMOBILIA (All genres. Any story or poem that features an automobile, of any variant on a road-hugging moving vehicle that carries living passengers, dead bodies, or supplies goods and services such as trucks, tractors, earth movers, and the like.) TRAIN STORIES (All genres. Let's see those stories and poems featuring one of the word's most beloved inventions. The trains can be real or toy trains.) MACHINE MAYHEM (All genres -- stories or poems for or against machines of all types, both mechanically or biologically based, including the tools used to make machines. The featured machine(s) can be either human-made or made ONLY by other machines with little or no human intervention. This is not intended to be an anthology of the done-to-death theme of machine and/or technology paranoia, but in favor of machines also. We are looking for BOTH pro and con machine stories.) DEADLY DOLLS (All genres welcome -- but the featured doll or dolls (any kind of doll or puppet or the like) must be a threat to humans. The deadly nature or influence of the doll can be physical death, psychological death, or emotional death, or a combination of all three.)
WRITER'S GUIDELINES In each book, the theme topic (e.g. Automobiles, Trains, Man-made Machines, or Dolls) is such an integral part of the plot that if removed, the story would collapse. 75 lines max per poem. 10,000 words max per short story. All genres accepted, all styles. Published and Unpublished Writers invited to submit for consideration. Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Multiple submissions are welcome. A Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) is only required if you want your manuscript returned to you. If you do not send a large enough SASE with adequate postage for the return of your manuscript, the manuscript will be considered disposable. In this case we will contact you with a printed acceptance or rejection letter that we will mail to you at our expense. (We suggest you save on postage and tell us the manuscript is disposable, or submit electronically.) If you submit via postal mail and want to know your manuscript was received by us please include an e-mail, or a self-addressed stamped postcard or envelope for a receipt-of-entry confirmation. Please include a cover letter (or cover e-mail if submitting electronically) containing a short author biography. If you are previously published please include a short list of the best places your works have appeared. No hand-written manuscripts please (except for short poems). We have no other hard and fast rules regarding manuscript format when submitting. We ask only that you send your best work. If you don't think it's ready yet, don't send it. SUBMISSION ACCEPTED DURING 2006. EACH ANTHOLOGY IS OPEN UNTIL ENOUGH QUALITY MANUSCRIPTS ARE CHOSEN.
